Morgan Young is the big shot of the country music world. He has the world at his fingertips and girls falling at his feet, drawn into a life of seedy bars and racking up one-night stands like number one hits.
But no matter how hard he tries, he can’t get that one girl off his mind.
The one who won’t love him back.
Carina Cole has a love that gave her everything she could ever hope for. Treated like a queen, she has the stability she so craves. In a world where people were telling her who she should be and how she should act, Carina finds herself lost in her own lies, worn out with the gruelling task of convincing herself that she’s happy.
And she is.
So why can’t she say yes to marrying him?
With one of them ready to give it his all and the other running from her heart, will they find their happy ever after, or be destined to live a life of unrequited love?
“Maybe he does. Maybe he doesn’t. What if he decided that the fight was too much for him and he bowed out?”
“Then he would be a dick because when it comes to the woman you love, you would stop at nothing to make her yours. There is no obstacle too large to make it worth walking away. If he loved her enough then he would go through heaven and hell for her. I damn sure am prepared to.” I had to close my eyes. If I didn’t then the tears would start and I didn’t want that. Morgan continued to amaze me every day. Just when I thought I had him figured out, he would go and say something like that and blow that to pieces. I wiggled down a little to rest my forehead against his chest, my eyes still closed. He wrapped his arms around me tighter and held me. I don’t know if he realized just how much those words meant to me. Morgan pressed a soft kiss to the top of my head and I pulled back to look at him.
“I love you.”
